August Eber

August Ludwig Heinrich Eber (born September 28, 1865 in Hanover , † April 6, 1937 in Leipzig ) was a German veterinarian and professor at the University of Veterinary Medicine Dresden and Leipzig University .

Life

Eber graduated from high school in Hanover and studied veterinary medicine at the universities of veterinary medicine in Hanover and Berlin and later natural sciences at the universities of Berlin and Leipzig. During his studies he became a member of the Association of German Students in Leipzig . In 1895 he received his doctorate from the University of Leipzig Dr. phil. with a dissertation on the morphology of the hoof in paired and unpaired walkers . First he worked as a veterinarian in Eldagsen and Berlin. From 1893 he was district veterinarian in Dresden and lecturer in veterinary medicine at the University of Veterinary Medicine Dresden , from 1899 to 1914 associate professor for veterinary medicine and from 1914 to 1923 full professor for veterinary medicine. He did another doctorate in veterinary medicine as Dr. med. vet. and from 1923 to 1934 was a full professor of animal nutrition and epidemic studies . He was a specialist in animal diseases. In 1934 he became a member of the Leopoldina . In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler .

His brother Wilhelm Eber is considered to be the discoverer of the crime scene dactyloscopy .
