August Ey

Karl August Ey (* 1810 in Clausthal , † 1870 in Zellerfeld ) was a German educator , folklorist , editor and local writer .

Life

In 1855 August Ey, who worked as a pedagogue in Clausthal, published the Harz book or Der Geleitsmann durch den Harz in a second, increased and improved edition . The book was provided with steel engravings based on historical drawings of the Harz Mountains by various artists and a map .

In addition, August Ey collected fairy tales and legends from the Upper Harz , but also wrote poetry .

August Ey is considered to be the father of the high school teacher, professor and local writer Adolf Ey , but this is also doubted.
