August Leonhard Bernoulli

August Leonhard Bernoulli (born June 6, 1879 in Basel ; † February 20, 1939 in Basel) was a Swiss physicist from the Bernoulli family .

Bernoulli studied mathematics and physics at the University of Basel . He later moved to the Technical University of Munich , where he received his doctorate in physics in 1903. He then accepted a position at the Physics Institute at the Technical University of Aachen and worked there as an assistant for four years. From 1907 to 1910 Bernoulli worked there as a private lecturer .

In 1910 he accepted a position at the University of Bonn . As his career stagnated there, Bernoulli accepted an offer from the University of Basel in 1912 . As an associate professor of physical chemistry, he was entrusted with the management of a chair. In 1917 he was appointed full professor and promoted to director of the University's Physico-Chemical Institute.

August Leonhard Bernoulli died on February 20, 1939 at the age of 59 in Basel.
