August Paul Brenninkmeijer
August Paul Brenninkmeijer (born July 16, 1925 in Rotterdam ; † September 18, 2011 in Meerbusch ) was a Dutch - German entrepreneur and patron .
Life
August Paul Brenninkmeijer, member of the Brenninkmeijer family ( C&A ), was heavily involved in the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem . Under the motto "Caritas et fides" he supported the seminary in Bait Jala in the Palestinian Autonomous Region of the West Bank and many other projects in Catholic parishes in Jordan , Palestine and Israel ; but also for religious communities, such as in Abu Dis , and the creche of Bethlehem, a crèche and a home for children. From 1964 he was a member of the German Association of the Holy Land , of which he was a board member from 1985 to 1997 and an honorary member since 1998.
On April 29, 1961 he was invested in Bamberg in the order of knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem ; he was last Knight of the Grand Cross . He was also the bearer of the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Golden Palm of Jerusalem .
The marriage to Gerarda (Gerda) Brenninkmeijer Teeuwen has six children. August Paul Brenninkmeijer was buried in his home town of Mettingen .
