August Schmidlin (born April 27, 1878 in Blotzheim , † January 30, 1943 in Strasbourg ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian and church musician .

Life

Schmidlin, son of a teacher and younger brother of Joseph Schmidlin , studied Roman Catholic theology and church music. He was ordained a priest and worked as such in Masevaux in Alsace. In 1914 he signed the 93 . As a church musician he wrote a number of religious church music works, including a. also a song text on the famous Saarburg cross .

He died in 1943 during the Second World War.
