The August the Strong is a saloon ship built in 1994 for the Saxon Steamship Company in Dresden . It is named after the Saxon Elector and King of Poland, Augustus the Strong .

The ship was built as a replacement for August der Starke (ex. Ernst Thälmann ) built in 1963 by SET Schiffbau- u. Development company Tangermünde built. The ship was christened on May 19, 1994.

The ship of two driven MAN diesel engines each with 340  kW power . Upstream it reaches a speed of about 6 - 9  km / h , downstream about 12 - 20 km / h.

Others

The sister ship is the Countess Cosel , which also replaced a previous building of the same name ( Countess Cosel ex. Karl Marx ).
