The SET Schiffbau- u. Development company Tangermünde is a shipbuilding company with two shipyards in Tangermünde and Genthin . The company belongs to the Heinrich Rönner Group in Bremerhaven.
history
In what was then the GDR , the shipyards in Tangermünde and Genthin were heavily involved in the development and expansion of the inland waterway fleet. Like the ship repair yards in Laubegast , Malz and Berlin-Stralau, the locations were privatized in 1991 and combined as German inland shipyards under joint management. Around the year 2000 there were massive payment problems. The plants in Tangermünde and Genthin were taken over by the Rönner Group.
Tangermünde
Ships have been built and repaired at the Tangermünde site for over 150 years. In the beginning there were only barges , barges and small tugs . From 1900 steam-powered side-wheel and rear-wheel ships and larger towing units were added. These ships were mainly built and repaired for the Elbe and Havel areas . Other new buildings such as tugs and barges were also delivered to Hamburg and Bohemia.
After privatization mainly passenger ships were built, as well as ferries , dredgers and sections for other shipyards. This program will largely be retained even after the takeover by the Heinrich Rönner Group. The shipyard has an operating area of 17,300 m² with the necessary workshops, a four-layer transverse and longitudinal slip system for ships up to 85 m in length and 1000 t in weight, as well as a shipbuilding hall measuring 96 × 30 × 15 m.
Genthin
Ships have been built and repaired in Genthin since 1921. The Genthin ship repair yard emerged in 1950 from what was then the building yard of the Waterways and Shipping Office. It existed from 1950 to 1990, then was privatized and integrated into the German inland shipyards. As with the Tangermünder Werft, the takeover by the Rönner Group took place due to massive problems at the German inland shipyards.
With the exception of a larger island supplier, mainly police boats and traffic safety vessels were built as new buildings. In the past few years, hydraulic dredgers have also been built for the Elbe at the Genthin shipyard. Ship repairs and conversions are also carried out. The shipyard's operating area is around 32,000 m². There is a pier length of 350 m with a water depth of 3 m and a two-layer transverse and longitudinal slip system for ships up to 82 m in length and 640 t in weight. The dimensions of the shipbuilding hall are 70 × 20 × 10 m and those of the machine building hall 45 × 30 × 10 m.
