August von Bönninghausen (born December 24, 1831 in Münster , † December 29, 1904 in Coesfeld ) was a German administrative lawyer and district administrator.

Life

Born into the Catholic von Bönninghausen family with ten children, Bönninghausen was baptized in St. Lamberti (Münster) . At home in the Prussian province of Westphalia , after graduating from high school on August 22, 1853, he studied law at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn , the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Berlin and the Schlesische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Breslau . In 1854 he became a member of the Corps Saxonia Bonn and Vandalia Berlin and in 1856 he was a corps bow bearer of Borussia Breslau . He passed the examination for trainee lawyer on April 6, 1858 in Münster.

Like his father Clemens Maria Franz von Bönninghausen , he was appointed provisional on September 27, 1867, and finally on January 27, 1868 as the third district administrator of the Coesfeld district. He remained in office for over 36 years until his death. From 1887 to 1904 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Westphalia for the Coesfeld constituency .

On November 3, 1869, he married Franziska Georgine Katharina von Beers in Uerdingen.

He was a senior councilor and, after serving in the military, between 1864 and 1868 he was a major in the reserve .

The preservation of his grave in Coesfeld has been controversial for decades.
