Life

His parents were the ducal-Brunswick captain August Friedrich Karl von Geyso (* August 5, 1766 - December 5, 1802) and his wife Caroline von Biela (* June 15, 1778 - April 26, 1858).

From 1812 to 1818 he attended the Philanthropin in Vechelde , in 1819 the Brunswick Collegium Carolinum and from 1820 studied law in Göttingen , where he joined the Corps Brunsviga . He then became a district actuary, secretary in 1826 and secretary in 1828 in the Duchy of Braunschweig. In 1830 Geyso switched to the service of the Kingdom of Hanover in protest against the unconstitutional measures taken by the reigning Duke Charles II . After his return to Braunschweig he worked under the new Duke Wilhelm from 1831 as a judicial officer in Schöningen and from 1832 in Blankenburg , where he was appointed to the state economics and finance council in 1835. Geyso worked as district director in Wolfenbüttel since 1837 and in Helmstedt since 1842 . In 1844 he became finance director in Brunswick and privy councilor in 1848. Geyso was appointed Minister of State on April 25, 1859.

Geyso died in Braunschweig in 1861. The Geysostraße there, which was built in the 1880s, is named after him.

His first marriage was Juliane von Schmidt-Phiseldeck (born January 9, 1805, † December 10, 1854). After her death, on March 12, 1856, married Charlotte von Schleinitz (1828–1913), a daughter of the Brunswick State Minister Wilhelm von Schleinitz († 1856). Both marriages were childless.
