Augustin Alexis Damour
Augustin Alexis Damour (born July 19, 1808 in Paris , † September 22, 1902 there ) was a French mineralogist .
Life
He first worked in the Foreign Ministry, where he was promoted to undersecretary and left in 1854 to devote himself to mineralogical research. His first mineral analyzes were published in 1837. He now undertook scientific trips to Central America and the Antilles , which he reported on in 1860.
In 1862 he became a corresponding member of the Paris Academy, in 1878 a member of the French Institute and in 1881, on the recommendation of Kobell, a member of the Royal Bavarian Academy of Sciences . From 1876 he was a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Saint Petersburg .
Shortly after Damour's death, his personal mineral collection was transferred to the " Rheinische Mineralien-Kontor " by Dr. F. Krantz sold.

Damour achieved great fame primarily for his analyzes and scientific descriptions of the chemical structure of minerals . In his 56 year career, he analyzed and described countless minerals and new types of minerals, among others

Honors
In 1845 Achilles Delesse described a variety of muscovite , which he named after him as damourite .
