Auingen is a district of the city of Münsingen in Baden-Württemberg . With its 2360 inhabitants, it is the largest district in the city. Auingen has now grown together directly with Münsingen.

history

Auingen is one of the oldest settlements on the Alb plateau and is first mentioned in 770 with a Houuinger marca . The place came in 1265 with Münsingen to Württemberg. Auingen was incorporated into Münsingen from 1939 to 1947 and then became independent again. On July 1, 1971, Auingen, together with Böttingen and Dottingen, was incorporated back into Münsingen as part of the municipal reform in Baden-Württemberg .

Attractions

Auingen borders directly on the former military training area , so that hikers and cyclists, with and without a guide, can explore the area of ​​the former military training area from here. In October 2010, the information center of the Swabian Alb biosphere area opened its doors to the public at the entrance to the old camp .

The Pankratiuskirche was built around 1660. A previous building was built as the St. Pancras Chapel in 1360. The town hall was built in 1777 as a school and town hall.
