Aurelius Marie

Aurelius John Lamothe Marie (born December 23, 1904 in Portsmouth , United Kingdom , † September 28, 1995 ) was a Dominican politician and lawyer and the second President of Dominica from 1980 to 1983.

Life

Marie was a magistrate and a lawyer. On February 25, 1980, after the turbulent time of the constitutional crisis, the House of Assembly elected Marie as President. Marie took his oath of office before Cecil Hewlett and was in office until 1983. During his tenure, Oliver Seraphin and Eugenia Charles served as prime ministers .
