Aventics is one of the leading manufacturers of pneumatic components and systems. In addition to production facilities at five locations in Laatzen (Germany), Bonneville (France), Lexington (USA), Eger (Hungary) and Changzhou (China), the company is active in more than 100 countries in direct sales or as a sales partner.

background

The company was created in 2013 through the spin-off of the pneumatics division from the Bosch-Rexroth group. It was sold to the financial investor Triton in December 2013 and has been called Aventics since February 2014.

Pneumatics use compressed air as a drive means. The company manufactures cylinders , valves , valve systems and maintenance units for compressed air processing and is increasingly relying on the electronic networking of system parts, keyword: Industry 4.0 in German usage or Industrial internet of things (IIOT) or digital transformation in an industrial context. Another area is vacuum technology , which is used, for example, in food technology.

history

The company we know today goes back to the founding of the Westinghouse Air Brake Company ( WABCO ) in 1869. The pneumatics business of Wabco Steuerungstechnik was then taken over in 1989 by Rexroth, at that time a subsidiary of the Mannesmann group. As a result, Mannesmann Rexroth Pneumatik GmbH was founded in Hanover. In 1991, Mannesmann Rexroth took over AB Mecman, founded in 1945, which was assigned to the Pneumatics division and renamed Rexroth Mecman GmbH. After Bosch bought Rexroth in 2001, Bosch Automation and Mannesmann Rexroth (parent company of Rexroth Mecman) merged to form today's Bosch Rexroth . In September 2013, the pneumatics division was spun off as an independent company under the name Rexroth Pneumatics and sold to the financial investor Triton. Since then, the company has been operating under the new brand name Aventics. At the beginning of 2016, the tooth chain division was sold to the British drive and conveyor chain specialist Renold . In March 2017, Vector Horizon Technology LLC (VHtek), based in Bowling Green , Kentucky (USA), was taken over. VHtek develops environmentally friendly energy systems with a focus on emissions control and sophisticated mechatronic devices.

On July 18, 2018, the acquisition by Emerson , a global leader in intelligent pneumatic technologies that power applications in machine and factory automation, was announced. In spring 2020 it transpires that massive job cuts are planned at the Laatzen location. In June 2020, the company, the works council and the trade union agreed on a socially acceptable downsizing.

Areas of application

Pneumatic drive technology

Pneumatic components

Pneumatically operated cylinders, valves and valve systems as well as additional accessories can be used as components by machine manufacturers. Ready-to-install, preassembled assemblies or modified components are optimized for customer-specific applications. On the basis of configuration and calculation programs, pneumatic handling systems for gripping, moving and positioning are designed and planned. The integration of electronics and pneumatics is an essential element.

Commercial vehicle technology

With electropneumatic pressure regulating valves and valve systems, cylinders and directional control valves, Aventics offers a range of pneumatic control components for the engine. Electropneumatic pressure regulating valves, for example, convert a control signal into a pneumatic pressure with which various actuators are controlled. This is used to comply with the emission standards for exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), the power control of a turbocharger or to control the engine brake.

Ship technology

AVENTICS ship technology

Aventics develops pneumatic and electronic control components optionally with joystick , alarm and monitoring systems, pneumatic tank ballast and level measurement systems for professional and sport shipping . The tank ballast systems manage without electrical connections or power supplies for the basic systems. The position feedback of the individual valves is also done pneumatically.
