Awwad Alawwad ( Arabic عواد العواد, DMG ʿAuwad al-ʿAuwad ; * April 11, 1972 in Riyadh ) is a Saudi politician and diplomat. He currently holds the post of minister of censorship.

Personal life

Al-Awad is married with three children and lives with his family in Riyadh.

Education

In 1993 he received a Bachelor of Administration Science at King Saud University in Riyadh. In 1996 he was Master of the banking system of Boston University . In 2000 he received his PhD in Economics from the University of Warwick with a thesis on Financial Markets Systems .

Career

From 2000 to 2004 he headed the financial studies and banking supervision departments at the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority, the Saudi central bank . He was then President of the Saudi Center for Competitiveness and Deputy Managing Director of the Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), which is responsible for the implementation of international investment protection agreements, until 2010 .

He was Chairman of the WTO Panel on Trade Disputes, Deputy Chairman of the Saudi-Swiss Joint Commission and the Saudi-Russian Joint Commission. From 2010 to 2013 he was an advisor to the Prince of Riyadh, Sattam bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. From 2013 to 2015 he was economic advisor to the special office of the then Crown Prince Salman ibn Abd al-Aziz . On April 22, 2015, he was appointed Ambassador to Berlin, where he was accredited from October 2015 to April 22, 2017. On June 13, 2017 there was a fatal collision for a cyclist with a Porsche door opened under the protection of immunity under international law. Al-Awad went to see the bereaved and expressed his sympathy.

The Saudi Ministry of Information is responsible for overseeing the country's newspapers, magazines, channels and all media.
