Axel Krohn

Axel W. Krohn (* 1952 ) is a German political scientist .

Krohn studied at the University of Hamburg and did research in the Scandinavian countries. In 1988 he received his doctorate in Hamburg with the dissertation Nuclear Disengagement in Northern Europe .

He then worked as a research assistant at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute in Solna and at the chair for political science at the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel . From 1999 to 2002 he was German Senior Advisor at the Secretariat of the Baltic Sea Council in Stockholm , there a. a. responsible for nuclear safety and economic cooperation.

He then became a lecturer in the security policy and strategy department at the command academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg . He is the head of the department for international relations and security policy and mainly deals with the UN , crisis management in Africa and strategic analyzes of the Arctic . Krohn is a member of the working group “Security more security? Perspectives of Security Policy for the World in 2035 ”with leading participation of the Union of German Academies of Sciences . He is also co-editor of the Security and Peace series at Nomos Verlag .
