Axel Möckel

Axel Möckel (* 1949 in Timmendorfer Strand , † 1999 in Berlin ) was a German painter .

Live and act

Möckel studied at the Berlin University of the Arts with Kuhn and Ulrich Knispel and was there from 1975 master class with Karl Horst Hödicke .

From 1979, his works were shown in solo and group exhibitions. From 1987 he took part in numerous film and video festivals and received awards there. Möckel's last work, shortly before his death in 1999, was shown in the exhibition Worlds - Building Blocks of Reality in the Siegburg City Museum .

As a freelance artist, he found his own way and style, drawing on German Neo-Expressionism as well as important representatives of the so-called Neue Wilde and - alongside Georg Baselitz , Jörg Immendorff , Markus Lüpertz , Bernd Koberling and AR Penck - important representatives of the New Figuration .
