Axel Orongan (born May 31, 2001 ) is an Icelandic ice hockey player who has played for the Dallas Snipers in the Western States Hockey League since 2018 .

Career

Axel Orongan started his career at Skautafélag Reykjavíkur . As a 15-year-old he moved to Falu IF , for whom he played in both the U16 and U18 teams. In 2017 he was drawn in the GMHL draft by the Parry Sound Islanders in the 12th round as a total of 317th player. However, since the Islanders stopped playing before the start of the season, he stayed in Sweden for another year before moving to the Dallas Snipers in the Western State Hockey League in 2018.

International

As a junior, Orongan competed for Iceland in the U18 World Championships of Division II in 2016 , 2017 , when he was voted the best player of his team, and 2018 and the U20 World Championships of Division III in 2017 and 2018 , when he was again the best player of his team was awarded.

Axel Orongan played for the Icelandic national team for the first time at the 2018 World Cup in Division II.
