Axel Rohlfs (* 1971 in Bremen ) is a painter of concrete art , author of concrete and visual poetry and editor for other representatives of concrete art. He studied architecture, real estate management, German and art education in Berlin, Detmold and Bremen.

Life

In 1991 he began studying architecture at the TU Berlin , which he graduated with a diploma in 1997. Here he also took painting courses with Matthias Koeppel . He then worked as an architect and artist in Hamburg , Düsseldorf , Detmold and Bremen. In 2002 he organized the exhibition Lajos Vajda - Endre Bálint (two Hungarian artists related to the Holocaust) in the Mü-Terem Galéria, Budapest . In 2004 he received a scholarship as artist in residence of the espace de l´art concrete in Mouans-Sartoux (Côte d´Azur) with a final studio exhibition. In the same year he began to create art editions for other artists ( Vera Molnár , Hans Jörg Glattfelder , Eugen Gomringer , Attila Kovács). In 2005 he had his first solo exhibition at the ikkp (institute for constructive art and concrete poetry, Eugen Gomringer) in Rehau . Exhibitions at home and abroad followed.

His artistic goal is the construction of intertwined figures within the framework of an aesthetic of simultaneity, absence and non-identity. The latter principles can also be seen in his visual and concrete poetry . He currently lives and works in Bremen .
