Axel Titzki (born July 23, 1968 in Ueckermünde ; † January 18, 2017 in Frankfurt (Oder) ) was a German musician and composer .

Live and act

Axel Titzki began his music career shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall. He opened his own music studio and since 1996/97 was one of the initiators of the Christmas musical about the adventures of the snowman "Snowy" in Eisenhüttenstadt. The first performance took place on November 30, 1997. It was entitled “The exchanged festival”, followed by three more performances this year. In the following years up to 2016, up to ten performances per season were played in the Advent season in Eisenhüttenstadt's Friedrich-Wolf-Theater, which was always sold out; from 2015 also as a summer open-air event on the open-air stage in Eisenhüttenstadt. Axel Titzki composed the music for the respective musical story every year and was also co-author of the scripts for the musical from 2002. From 2012 he was the sole story creator and screenwriter. In addition, he co-directed the film from 2013 until Christmas 2016. For over 20 years, Axel Titzki has been known as the “father of snowman Snowy”, the most famous snowman in Brandenburg.

In addition to his musical production, Axel Titzki started and produced various band projects such as "Hamann's Enkel" (1994), Chameleon (1997/98), Kahlbutz (published in 1999 by EMI Music Publishing), and Das Radioaktiv (1999). From 1991 he produced a total of six “Big Crazy Pop-Night-Shows” in Eisenhüttenstadt. He wrote titles, music and arrangements for various music projects and productions such as for Stefanie Matheus, Nik Page , Blind Passenger, the Blind Passengers , for the industrial band E-Craft , for The Firm. Axel Titzki assisted in other productions together with the pop singer Achim Mentzel . For the comeback of ex-boxer Jan Jungmayer under the title "Operation 300" Titzki composed and produced the invasion hymn.

As a jury member of the “VOC” singing competition for soloists for the districts of Oder-Spree , Märkisch-Oderland , Dahme-Spreewald and the city of Frankfurt (Oder) for pop, hit songs and lied, Axel Titzki was actively involved in promoting young musicians in Brandenburg.

Axel Titzki was involved in the production of the audio books for " Abrafaxe " from MOSAIK Steinchen für Steinchen Verlag . He was involved in various advertising productions and was one of the authors of the Pro 7 show "Switch".

He worked in Eisenhüttenstadt and lived there with his wife and two daughters.

Political and social engagement

In 2007, Axel Titzki was elected to the city ​​council of Eisenhüttenstadt for the first time and was deputy chairman of the SIA from October 2015 until his death. In addition, Axel Titzki was a member of the committee for culture and sport as well as deputy chairman of the supervisory board of the municipal nursing home.

In 2010, Axel Titzki founded the “Kulturwerkstatt Oder-Spree” association to promote culture and the promotion of young people in culture in Eisenhüttenstadt. There he was CEO for several years .

Axel Titzki was a co-founder and member of the “Pro Stadtfest” initiative from 2012 to support the annual city festival in Eisenhüttenstadt. From 2018 a music award is named after Axel Titzki - the "AXEL". The first round of elimination took place on March 10, 2018.
