Konrad Axel von Gernet (born November 14, 1865 in Sallentack , Estonia Governorate , † February 5, 1920 in Petrograd ) was a German Baltic historian .

family

The father was Oskar von Gernet, an excise officer , the mother Elisabeth von Gernet, b. from Stubendorff. On August 10, 1893, he married Magdalene Freiin von Tiesenhausen in Dorpat .

Life

He attended the Knights and Cathedral School in Reval from 1878 to 1883 . From 1886 to 1891 he studied history at the University of Dorpat (1888 gold medal). From 1886 he was active in the Baltic Corporation Estonia Dorpat , for which he compiled the first edition of the list of members Album Estonorum in 1888 .

In St. Petersburg he was from 1892 to 1917 an official of the Heraldiedepartment of the Senate, from 1893 to 1899 assistant archivist and from 1899 assistant to the senior secretary, at the same time teacher at the Petrovsky School from 1893 to 1896 and from 1903 manager of the central committee of the support fund for the Evangelical Lutheran congregations Of Russia. From 1899 to 1917 he was also secretary of the church council of St. Anne's Church . He worked in the Evangelical Lutheran General Consistory from 1919 . From 1893 to 1903 permanent, later occasional employee of the St. Petersburg newspaper .
