Axel von Mardefeld
Axel Freiherr von Mardefeld also Axel von Maasberg or Maesberg , ( Swedish Axel von Massberg, formerly Marderfelt ; * 1691 in Swedish Pomerania ; † December 8, 1748 ) was a Prussian envoy and cabinet minister .
Life
Origin and family
Axel von Mardefeld was a member of the Swedish noble family Marderfelt . His parents were the Swedish general Arvid Axel Mardefelt (1655-1708) and Catharina, born von Wedeman († after 1715). He married Marie Elisabeth von Stryska (Strzyszka) (1688-1717), a daughter of the Brandenburg thigh Samuel von Stryska (Strzyszka) († 1693) and Maria von der Groeben adH Lichterfeld († after 1697).
Career
Mardefeld became a Prussian chamberlain and as such moved to St. Petersburg in 1723 to be trained and trained by his uncle, the ambassador there, Gustav von Mardefeld (1664–1729). In 1728 he became his successor. He appeared in St. Petersburg as Count Mardefelt and had great influence on the Russian court , especially during the earlier reign of Empress von Elisabeth . In 1742 he became the Real Secret Council . On his return in 1747 he became a Knight of the Black Eagle Order and, as the successor to Kaspar Wilhelm von Borcke (1704–1747), he was finally cabinet minister.
