Rudolf Wülflinger

Rudolf Wülflinger († June 25, 1445 ) was an abbot of the Wettingen monastery .

Life

Wülflinger came from a middle-class family in Zurich. Joined Wettingen Abbey before 1407, he was Cellerar there from 1409 to 1422, and from 1425 conductor of the cloister courtyard in Basel. In a dispute with his relative Johann Schwarzmurer since 1428 , after his resignation in 1433 after various intrigues he was unanimously elected as his successor, but was not confirmed by Zurich or the General Chapter. Only after the Pope and Emperor had spoken out in favor of him, after a new election on June 23, 1434, he was also recognized by the Confederates and finally in 1436 by the Abbot General. On June 27, 1439, he received the right to use the pontificals for himself and his successors for the hospitality granted to the participants in the Council in Basel.
