Live and act

Volker von Fulach possibly came from the noble family of the same name, whose residence was in the desert spot near Herblingen near Schaffhausen . He was first mentioned in writing on February 18, 1267, when he was named as a sub prior in Wettingen, and one year later as "Capellanus" under Abbot Ulrich. In 1284/1285 von Fulach represented the monastery of Selnau as governor . Furthermore, his name can be found on January 13, 1273 and on September 11, 1374 as prior, from November 6, 1278 until his death several times as abbot.

During the time of his abatement , Wettingen acquired goods in Kleinbasel for the first time . Fulach is regarded as a pioneer of various possessions in the Limmat Valley and a liquidator near Wädenswil and in central Switzerland . Around 1291 he achieved close political ties to Zurich, whose civil rights he received on January 26, 1293. The second consecration of Wettingen took place under Fulach in 1294, during which the new transept, the choir and 14 altars could be added to the existing building. His successor was Ulrich Wolleb in the years 1306–1308 .
