Christoph Silberysen
Christoph Silberysen (also: Silbereisen, Silberisen; * 1541 in Baden AG , † 1608 in Wettingen ) was abbot of the Cistercian monastery Wettingen and author from 1563 to 1594 .
Life
Information about Christoph Silberysen is sparse. Under his leadership, richly illustrated chronicles were created in the monastery; the abbey received standing panes, glass paintings and other representative furnishings. In 1576 Silberysen completed his Swiss Chronicle, illustrated by Jacob Hoffmann among others . It is one of the more recent in the series of Swiss Chronicles and is kept in the Aargau canton library in Aarau .
Silberysen's three-volume Swiss chronicle has been digitized and is accessible on the Internet.
