Konrad (abbot)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Konrad (* 1st half of the 13th century ; † after 1256 in Wettingen ) was clergyman and abbot of Wettingen Monastery .

Nothing is known about its origin; but he can be documented as abbot for the period from 1228 to 1256. For the years 1226 and 1227, Konrad is named in writing in the Salem Monastery as prior, i.e. as the representative of Abbot Eberhard von Rohrdorf , and is designated as the first abbot for October 14, 1227, the founding date of Wettingen. His successor in Wettinger, Heinrich von Murbach , is documented in writing for the first time as abbot on December 5, 1256 .

For the years 1263 and 1265 to 1267 there are again handed down traces of a Konrad . It cannot be proven with certainty whether this is the founding abbot or already his successor. On June 4, 1264, Konrad received the order from Pope Urban IV to visit the new Premonstratensian double monastery Bollingen on the north bank of Lake Zurich .
