Axro was founded in 1990 in Hamburg by Axel Spielberg and Rolf Majoor. As a wholesaler, Axro imports and exports consumables for printers and copiers. In 1990 the warehouse had an area of ​​approx. 100 m² and was located in downtown Hamburg. In the following years, Axro expanded its field of activity to include the distribution of printers and copiers. In 1993, due to business growth, the company moved to the 400 m² warehouse of a former chocolate factory in the west of Hamburg. In 1996, Axro rented an approx. 800 m² warehouse in the north of Hamburg. In 1996 the management expanded its activities towards Eastern Europe and founded the subsidiary SCOT Spółka z oo in Krakow (Poland). In 1998, Axro bought a 1,600 m² warehouse in the Hamburg district of Stellingen and exceeded the sales threshold of 100 million euros in 2004. In 2005 the company moved to its own new premises at the former location of Asche AG, a subsidiary of Bayer AG , also in Hamburg-Stellingen, with a storage area of ​​approx. 5,000 m² and an office area of ​​approx. 1,400 m².

In 2009, the second managing director, Rolf Majoor, left the company; Axel Spielberg has been the sole managing director since 2009. On April 1, 2017, the management was expanded to include Stefan Jürs. In 2012, Axro sold the subsidiary in Poland . In 2015 more than 200 million euros in sales were achieved.

Axro Bürokommunikation Distribution Import Export GmbH acts as a distributor on the market for printer and fax accessories. With some manufacturers such as B. Kyocera , Samsung and Sharp have direct distribution agreements. The focus of the business area is on the business-to-business area and the specialist trade.
