Ayşe Sezgin
Ayşe Sezgin (born January 23, 1958 in Ankara ) is a Turkish diplomat .
life and career
Sezgin studied social and administrative sciences at Hacettepe University in Ankara. She began her career in the Turkish diplomatic service in 1983 and worked alternately at the Foreign Ministry in Ankara and numerous Turkish consulates abroad, later at the OECD in Paris and the embassies in Paris and London. At the Foreign Office in Ankara she was responsible for various European and EU agendas (economy, politics, general EU affairs), most recently in the ambassadorial position as Director General in the Directorate General for European Affairs (2009-2010) and Deputy Secretary General in Under-General Secretariat for EU Affairs (2010–2011). From March 2008 to October 2009 she was ambassador in Ljubljana.
From November 2011 to November 2013 she was Ambassador to Austria at the Embassy in Vienna . She succeeded Ambassador Kadri Ecvet Tezcan , who had been sharply criticized for his statements about the Austrian policy on foreigners in an interview with the Austrian daily newspaper Die Presse . After taking office, Sezgin expressed the view that Turkey would be a member of the European Union before she retired. She is married to the Turkish ambassador in Moscow , Aydın Adnan Sezgin .
Ayşe Sezgin has been the Turkish ambassador in Valletta / Malta since November 2013.
