Azèye (also: Azzèye ) is a rural community in the Abalak department in Niger .

geography

Azèye is located in the Sahel region . The neighboring communities are Akoubounou and Abalak in the northwest, Tamaya in the north, Bermo in the northeast, Babankatami in the southeast, Tabotaki in the southwest and Ibohamane in the west. The municipality is divided into 30 administrative villages, 17 traditional villages, 18 hamlets, eight camps and four water points. The main town of the rural municipality is the administrative village of Azèye (also: Azzèye).

history

The rural community of Azèye was created as an administrative unit in 2002 during a nationwide administrative reform in an area that was previously free of a community.

population

At the 2001 census, Azèye had 24,129 inhabitants. At the 2012 census, the population was 60,145.

Economy and Infrastructure

The community is located at the transition from the zone of rain-fed agriculture in the south to the zone of agropastoralism in the north.
