Babankatami (also: Baban Katami ) is a rural community in the Bouza department in Niger .
geography
Babankatami is in the Sahel region . The neighboring municipalities are Azèye in the north, Birni Lallé in the northeast, Adjékoria in the southeast, Karofane in the south, Bouza in the southwest and Tabotaki in the west. The municipality is divided into 41 administrative villages, 54 hamlets and two camps. The main town of the rural community is Babankatami.
history
The rural community of Babankatami was created as an administrative unit in 2002 as part of a nationwide administrative reform from the northeastern part of the canton of Bouza.
population
At the 2001 census, Babankatami had 38,479 inhabitants. At the 2012 census, the population was 65,906.
Economy and Infrastructure
The community is located in a zone where rain-fed agriculture is practiced.
