The Azione Sociale (German: Social Action or Social Action ), actually Azione Sociale con Alessandra Mussolini (German: Social Action with Alessandra Mussolini ) was a right-wing extremist party in Italy . It was founded as part of the alternative party alliance by Alessandra Mussolini , the granddaughter of the fascist dictator Benito Mussolini , and originally formed an alliance with the neo-fascist parties Forza Nuova and Fronte Sociale Nazionale .

history

The party was founded in December 2003 under the name Libertà di Azione (German: freedom of action or freedom of action ). It was created as a result of Alessandra Mussolini's exit from the Alleanza Nazionale due to various statements made by the chairman of the party Gianfranco Fini , with which he defended fascism (with reference to the Holocaust ) and the grandfather of Alessandra Mussolini as part of the "absolute evil of the 20th century" designated. Fini tried to establish the AN as a conservative democratic force.

After participating in the 2004 European elections (in which Alessandra Mussolini was elected to the European Parliament) and the 2005 regional elections, the party was renamed Azione Sociale .

The Azione Sociale joined the new Popolo della Libertà party at its founding congress from March 27 to 29, 2009 .

Political orientation

According to Alessandra Mussolini, the party's political goal was to strengthen the Alternativea Sociale alliance and, as a constantly moving political force, to solve the social problems of today's Italian society. In addition, the party sees itself as a clear reference point for all Italians who do not want to extradite Italy to Prodi and Bertinotti (i.e. the political leaders of the Social Democrats and the Communists ).

The most important program items at the Azione Sociale include:

  • Protection of life and family
  • Protection of national identity, with attention to regional traditions
  • Strengthening participatory democracy with advocacy for equality for women
  • Protection of the rights of the disabled
  • Recalling the Christian origins and protecting the Christian “ dominant culture ” through an amended European Constitution
  • Admission stop for “culturally alien” countries in the European Union
  • strong opposition to communism and liberal capitalism
  • Strengthening the economically weak south of Italy
  • Reintroduction of protectionism
  • Protection of Italians from immigrants and other non-Italians

Election results

After the failure of the center-left government of Romano Prodi in January 2008, the party called for new elections and joined the center-right unity list Popolo della Libertà by Silvio Berlusconi for the parliamentary elections in April . In the Aosta Valley , she won 1.4 % of the votes for the Chamber of Deputies and 1.0% for the Senate .
