Béla Rerrich (born November 26, 1917 in Budapest , † June 24, 2005 in Saltsjöbaden , Sweden ) was a Hungarian sword fencer .
Life
Béla Rerrich won the bronze medal with the team at the World Championships in Rome in 1955 . He took part in the Olympic Games three times : in London in 1948 and in Helsinki in 1952 , he finished fifth with the team and was eliminated from the individual in the quarter-finals in 1952. At the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 , he also did not get beyond the quarter-finals in the individual competition, but reached the final round for the first time with the Hungarian team, which was completed in second place behind Italy . Together with Lajos Balthazár , József Marosi , Ambrus Nagy , Barnabás Berzsenyi and József Sákovics , Rerrich received the silver medal. He was Hungarian champion four times and eight times with the team.
After the 1956 Games, he settled in the United States due to the political situation in his home country . He first worked for the US government in Washington, DC , as he was fluent in six languages. He later emigrated to Sweden , where he worked as a fencing trainer.
