Béla Széchenyi

Count Béla Széchenyi von Sárvár-Felsővidék (born February 3, 1837 in Pest , † December 2, 1918 in Budapest ) was a Hungarian explorer and belonged to the Széchenyi family .
Life
Béla, son of István Széchenyi , participated in the Hungarian state parliament in 1861 , where he vigorously advocated equality for Jews . In 1863 he made a trip to North America , which he described in his work Amerikai utam (My American Journey, Pest 1865). He visited Algiers in 1865 and between 1877 and 1880, accompanied by several scholars, China and Southeast Asia .
On December 4, 1900, Széchenyi was elected Crown Guardian . He published the results of his research in part in the writings of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences .
Béla Széchenyi died in Budapest on December 2, 1918.
