Börries von Notz (born May 1, 1973 in Mölln ) is a German cultural manager and spokesman for the management of the Nantesbuch gGmbH Foundation since 2019. From 2014 to June 2019 he was the sole director of the Hamburg Historical Museums Foundation and prior to that he was Managing Director of the Jewish Museum Berlin Foundation from 2008 to 2014 .

Life

The younger son of Friedhelm von Notz grew up in Hamburg and Frankfurt am Main and studied law and political science in Bonn. From 2001 he worked for museum institutions such as the Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation and the German Museum Association. As an independent lawyer, he advised and represented cultural institutions and people working in the cultural sector from 2004.

From 2008 to 2014 von Notz was Managing Director of the Jewish Museum Berlin. Since February 1, 2014, he has been the sole director of the Hamburg Historical Museums Foundation, to which the Museum of Hamburg History , the Altona Museum and the Museum of Labor belong as the main buildings . During his tenure, the German Harbor Museum was founded and the four-masted barque "Peking" was brought back . Since October 2015 he has published the Hamburg history magazine “Hamburg History Live!”.

Börries von Notz left the Hamburg Historical Museums Foundation in June 2019 and has been the management spokesman for the Nantesbuch Foundation since March 2019.

His older brother Konstantin von Notz is also a lawyer and has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2009.
