Březová Lada (German Birkenhaid ) is a district of the municipality Horní Vltavice in the Czech okres Prachatice . Due to the expulsion of the German-speaking population after the Second World War , the village was abandoned and fell into disrepair.
geography
The village was about 840 m to the right of the Warm Vltava , about 3 km west of Horní Vltavice. The Polecký vrch rises to the east of the former location and the Polecký potok runs to the south . Beyond the Warm Vltava, which runs from northwest to southeast, lies the Lišči hora in the north .
history
The place, which originated in the 18th century, was first mentioned in writing in 1790, the German name at that time was Bürckenhaiden . At that time there were glassworks in Březová Lada , in which glass beads for rosaries , the so-called patterl , were made. One of the names common in the mid-19th century - betel houses - is derived from this. The name Schlemmerhütte or Schlemrova Huť was also in use. Only around 1920 did Birkenhaid develop into the final name. After 1945 the exclusively German-speaking population was expelled. Today the village buildings no longer exist.
