The BARIG ( B oard of A irline R epresentatives i n G ermany) is the largest national advocacy of airlines operating in Germany. BARIG was founded in 1951 and has been a registered association since November 5th, 1993 with its seat in Frankfurt am Main .

More than 100 airlines are members of BARIG, from AirBridge Cargo to Deutsche Lufthansa AG and Condor Flugdienst to Windrose Air .

The association is chaired by the general secretary Michael Hoppe, a chairperson and a twelve-person 'Executive Committee', which is re-elected every 2 years and consists of the members of the airlines from different traffic areas.

BARIG has set itself the task of representing the common interests of its members towards local, state and federal politics, airports , aviation authorities , customs authorities and German air traffic control . The focus is on improving the economic and operational conditions of the members in Germany, for example with regard to legislative procedures , fee structures or night flight regulations . Various working groups exist for key topics.

Examples of BARIG activities are constant meetings with German airport operators, political meetings at German and European level, for example in Berlin or Brussels, and BARIG's constant presence in various forums relating to aviation.
