The Federal Office for Sport FOSPO ( French Office fédéral du sport OFSPO , Italian Ufficio federale dello sport UFSPO ) is a federal office of the Swiss Confederation . As a federal competence center for Swiss sport , it is affiliated to the Federal Department of Defense, Civil Protection and Sport, DDPS . Its mission is to promote sport and exercise in Switzerland. It is a service, education and training center for top , competitive and popular sports . As a training center, it develops knowledge and imparts skills for practicing and teaching sport in competitive and popular sports.

Eidgenössische Hochschule für Sport Magglingen EHSM

The Eidgenössische Hochschule für Sport Magglingen ( Eidgenössische Hochschule für Sport Magglingen) EHSM is the only Swiss university that deals exclusively with training (bachelor's and master's degrees), research, development and services in the field of sport . The EHSM also conducts research in young, popular and top-class sports. The EHSM is also affiliated with the Bern University of Applied Sciences BFH.

Trainer Education Switzerland is the competence center for the training and further education of trainers in Swiss competitive and elite sport and is organizationally affiliated with the EHSM.

The EHSM is affiliated with the Magglingen sports media library, the most extensive specialist library in Switzerland for the field of sports.

Sports policy and resources

The “Sports Policy and Resources” sub-area prepares the basics for sports policy and prepares Federal Council , parliament and official business. In addition, “Sports Policy and Resources” cultivates the relationship with private and public sport (associations, communal, cantonal and national administrations) and supports the promotion of sport and physical activity in schools.

Youth and adult sports

Jugend + Sport (Y + S) is the largest federal sports promotion program and is aimed at children and young people between 5 and 20 years of age. The training and further education of the leaders in sports clubs is one of the main pillars of J + S. Every year, trained Y + S leaders hold 80,000 Y + S courses and camps with over 650,000 children and young people, largely on a voluntary basis. Jugend + Sport offers leader courses and camps in 70 sports and disciplines.

Adult Sports Switzerland (esa) is a federal sports funding program geared towards popular and recreational sports. In cooperation with partner organizations, it strives for a uniform quality standard in the training and further education of managers. In this way, optimal framework conditions for sporting activity in adulthood should be created.

National Youth Sports Center Tenero CST

The Centro Sportivo Tenero CST is part of the BASPO and is located in the canton of Ticino . The CST is used by sports associations for training camps and schools for camps. It has a high priority as a training center in promoting young talent. More than 40 sports can be practiced on the facilities of the CST. The CST has 160 indoor and outdoor sports facilities. It is the national center of excellence for the sports of soccer , golf , athletics , swimming and gymnastics .

The National Sports Center Magglingen is responsible for the infrastructure of the BASPO and the smooth operation of the leading national training, performance and seminar center for sport. The employees of the National Sports Center take care of the maintenance of the sports facilities, the operation of the hotels and restaurants as well as the organization of seminars, congresses and other events.

The FOSPO promotes top-class sport with the Magglingen National Competence Center. The sports infrastructure and the services of the Swiss Olympic Medical Center Magglingen-Biel can be used by top athletes who are recognized by Swiss Olympic. It is the national center of excellence for the sports of artistic gymnastics and sport shooting .

mobilesport.ch is the Swiss online platform for physical education and training. Teachers, trainers and leaders can find practical information and instructions for their daily work on mobilesport.ch. With the online platform mobilesport.ch, the federal government is stepping up its efforts to promote general sport and exercise in Switzerland. The Federal Council and Parliament confirmed this core task of the FOSPO with the adoption of the completely revised Sports Promotion Act (SpoFöG) in summer 2010. The aim of the law is, among other things, to support the further commitment of the federal government to the subsidiary steering of sport development with a view to a high social benefit.

hepa.ch stands for the “Health and Exercise Switzerland” network. This network is an amalgamation of organizations, institutions and companies that are committed to promoting health through exercise and sport across Switzerland at the national, cantonal or local level . hepa.ch is headed by a steering committee consisting of representatives from the Federal Office for Sport FOSPO, the Federal Office of Public Health FOPH, Health Promotion Switzerland, the bfu and other members.

Anniversary year 2019: 75th anniversary of sports funding in Magglingen.

Founded in 1944 to promote the military ability of young men in a sports school, Magglingen today fulfills a comprehensive sports promotion mandate. As part of a public anniversary celebration for the 75th anniversary on September 14, 2019, over 3000 guests were given an insight into the federal government's sponsorship of sport. The current Sports Minister, Federal Councilor Viola Amherd, as well as four former Sports Ministers, Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin , the Federal President of 2019, Ueli Maurer , the former Federal Councilors Samuel Schmid and Adolf Ogi as well as representatives from sport and politics took part in a festive event on November 6th .
