The BBC Arena is a multi-purpose hall in the Swiss city of Schaffhausen in the canton of the same name . It is the home ground of the handball club Kadetten Schaffhausen .
history
The hall, completed in 2011, holds a total of 3,600 spectators and was officially inaugurated on September 8, 2011 during the match between Kadetten Schaffhausen and HSC Suhr Aarau . 1,330 spectators followed the game. On March 15, 2012, the EHF Champions League match against Atlético Madrid set a record number of 3'400 fans .
Emergence
The initiator for the construction and main financier is the Swiss industrialist and President of the Kadetten Schaffhausen Giorgio Behr . The hall is named after the Swiss company Behr Bircher Cellpack BBC , which is managed by Giorgio Behr . The hall is part of the 22 million CHF expensive national handball training and performance center Schaffhausen (NHTLZ).
Technical specifications
In the BBC arena, games can be played simultaneously on three fields measuring 20 × 40 m. This international crowd for handball is also sufficient for large field floorball and for sports such as volleyball or basketball with much smaller playing areas. The hall can be divided into three halls. Hall B offers space for around 1,000 spectators, Hall C around 700 and Hall D 1,500.

- Extendable grandstands with seats for around 2,400 people (including permanently installed seats), can be expanded by a standing ramp with 12 tiers to add around 500 (simple) seats
- Standing ramp for approx. 600 people
- Platforms for around 400 people
- IWC lounge on the 2nd floor
- Lounge of the Schaffhauser Kantonalbank on the 1st floor
- Bars on the 1st and 2nd floor
- Davidoff Lounge with ventilation and smoking balcony on the 2nd floor
- Cloakrooms, toilet facilities, media stand with workstations and TV podium, media workstations and space for media conferences
