history

The creation of today's group of companies took place in two steps and began in 1991 when Giorgio Behr was commissioned to renovate the Beringen- based equipment manufacturer Bircher . In the 1980s, Behr had specialized in the reorganization and restructuring of companies and set up his own consulting company in 1984. When no buyer could be found for Bircher, Behr, together with Anton Bucher-Bechtler and the management, took over the company, which was threatened with bankruptcy. In 2001, Behr acquired a majority stake in the Cellpack Group, which was founded in 1935 and based in Villmergen, and in 2003 integrated it together with the Bircher Group into the newly formed Behr Bircher Cellpack BBC .

From 2008 onwards, Behr Bircher Cellpack BBC launched several takeover offers, but in some cases met with severe rejection from the targeted companies. While the takeover of Groupe Baumgartner Holding , in which Behr Bircher Cellpack BBC has held more than 90 percent since June 2008, was still successful despite its negative attitude, the takeover attempts by sia Abrasives and Quadrant failed .
