The Berufsverband Deutscher Neurochirurgen eV ( BDNC ) is a German association based in Berlin with the aim of advocating the professional and professional interests of its members. The association has around 550 members (as of January 31, 2019).

history

Since 1972, the German Society for Neurosurgery has had a “Professional Issues” department, which was initially headed by Hans-Peter Jensen (Kiel), later Hermann Dietz (Hanover) chaired this commission. Under increasing professional political pressure (growing number of neurosurgeons at non-university hospitals as well as an increasing number of independent neurosurgeons who are less interested in a scientific specialist society or who can be optimally represented there), the professional association was then established by 9 founding members in continuation of the professional issues department of the DGNC German Neurosurgeon (BDNC) founded in Düsseldorf and entered in the register of associations. Andreas Weidner (Osnabrück) was the first chairman until 1994.
