The BKK Energieverbund was the result of the merger of the company health insurance funds from Energie -versorgung Schwaben AG (founded 1953), ENSO Energie Sachsen Ost AG (1991), Krafttransmission works Rheinfelden AG (1900), Maschinenfabrik Lorenz (1896) and Badische Beamten-Genossenschaftsbank e. G. mb H. (1928).

On January 2, 2015, the merger with BKK Kassana took place . As part of this, the BKK VerbundPlus' cash register was relocated to Munich. The main office is still in Biberach an der Riß , the former seat of the health insurance company.
