BVSMP even BVSMP , was an American R & B - and pop - trio consisting of singer (* Calvin Williams 7 September 1966 ) and Frederick Eugene Byrd (* 15. September 1971 ) and Percy Nathan Rodgers (* 9. February 1970 ) was who wrote their own songs. The band name is an abbreviation, the meaning of which is given differently by different sources. The variants are: "Baby Virgo - Shocking Mister P" and "Baby Virgo and the Simple Mind Persuaders".

biography

BVSMP was discovered in Florida in 1987 by singer and producer Stevie B. In their US homeland, there was initially no success. It was only when a US DJ brought material from the trio to Europe that there was demand in the local discotheques , whereupon the single I Need You first entered the German charts (number 3) in January 1988 , and a few months later also hit the Austrian charts , Switzerland (both 25th place) and England (3rd place).

With the accompanying album The Best Belong Together (DE # 46) and the following releases Be Gentle (DE # 12) and Anytime (DE # 21, CH # 22), BVSMP had short-term commercial success in Europe. The fourth release On and On (Can We Go On) flopped, whereupon the trio paused. With the albums Stronger Than Ever (1992) and Shake That Thang (1993) as well as other singles, the musicians could not build on their old successes, which led to the separation in 1993.
