The 1,000-shilling Babenberger federal gold coin was the first Schilling - gold coin of the Second Republic of Austria . It was coined in 1976 on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of the " establishment of the Babenbergers ".

The obverse of the coin shows the equestrian seal of Duke Friedrich II with the inscription “976–1976 Appointment of the Babenbergs” and was designed by Gertrude Simon . The back was artistically designed by Martha Coufal-Hartl and shows the coat of arms of the Republic of Austria , an eagle with a wall crown and a shield on the chest, a broken chain in the claws and the symbols of the peasant and working class. The inscription reads “Republic of Austria”, under the eagle “Schilling 1000” is embossed in two lines . The edge is ribbed.
