The Postal Herzogau is an Outbound Spur castle in the meadows of an expiring 680-meter spur in the district Herzogau the city Waldmünchen in Upper Palatinate district of Cham in Bavaria .

history

Nothing is known about the origin of the castle, possibly built in the 13th century, which only existed for a short time. Presumably it was a ministerial castle whose affiliation with the Mark Cham , the Schwarzenburgs or the Counts of Bogen is unclear. A find indicates the use of the castle in the 13th century, which suggests a task after the possessions of the Counts of Bogen were transferred to the Wittelsbachers in 1242 .

description

The former castle on a 50 by 30 meter knoll shows a 4 meter high edge to the north and northeast. According to archaeological research, one edge piece indicates the 13th century. The Burgstall is described as moth-like and is now a ground monument . Today the area serves as a horse paddock.
