The castle Sattelpeilnstein even castle Peilstein called, is the residue of a hilltop castle on the 577.2  m above sea level. NN high ridge "Hohen Gockel" above the district of Sattelpeilnstein in the Traitsching community in the Cham district in Bavaria .

The castle was mentioned in 1180, was probably the ancestral seat of the Lords of Peilnstein and fell into disrepair in the 15th century. In the 16th century, Justinian von Peilnstein built the new Schloss Sattelpeilnstein below the ruined castle .

From the former castle complex, made of granite humpback blocks, only small remains of walls are preserved. The Burgstall is now a ground monument . The area is part of the Schlossberg von Sattelpeilnstein nature reserve .
