history

The place name refers to a Hatzo or Hezo as the founder of the place. The place appears in a document for the first time on September 9, 1003 when it was donated from the royal estate Roding with other goods from King Heinrich II to the Hochstift Freising . In the 13th century, Hötzing was the seat of the lower aristocratic family of the Hetzinger , who sold their headquarters before 1338 and moved to Cham . Between 1338 and 1358 the Fras and then the Pulgl resided here. Then the plant was passed on to Ulrich den Göttlinger . In 1416 Caspar de Gotlingär moved to Cham and sold Hötzing to the Thierlsteiner zu Thierlstein . At that time, the complex was probably a tower-like structure surrounded by a moat.

From 1430 to 1447 the Fras are again attested as owners. The Preckendorfer are here from 1460 to 1539 . In 1540 Wolf von Tandorf , Richter zu Cham, took over the country estate . In 1609 the widow of his son Hötzing sold to Hans Jacob von Pertolzhofen . In 1619 the castle burned down, which he reports with the words that my castle or wonhauß Hözing, sambt all the property in it, in the year 1619, due to the fire that had arisen, was completely up in smoke and spoiled . In 1630 Hans Waltendorf bought the property and had the castle rebuilt. Via the Eyrl and the Köck , Hötzing came to Josef Alois Freiherrn von Asch , forester at Bruck in 1750 . He had today's castle built in 1762.

In 1781 Count Maximilian von Daun is appointed treasurer, land manager. City chief judge of Straubing by marrying Freiin von Asch, owner of Hötzing. In 1782 he received the Bräuschenk justice from the electoral court chamber in Munich. According to a letter of purchase from 1812, Countess Anna von Taufkirchen, b. Freiin von Köckh, on Thierlstein, Bruckberg and Traubenbach the property Hötzing. Their daughter Josepha married Karl Freiherr von Schacky auf Schönfeld, von Thierlstein, in 1809. Hötzing inherits her daughter Anna Freiin von Schacky.

This daughter Anna married the Friedrich Freiherrn von Reitzenstein in 1830, whereby the property at Hötzing passed into the family of the Freiherrn von Reitzenstein. In 1861 the son August Freiherr von Reitzenstein followed as the landlord of Hötzing until 1881.

In 1881 Hötzing passed to Josef and Anna Sauer from Haid near Walting. In the 20th century, Gut Hötzing was largely uninhabited and the castle was becoming increasingly neglected. In 2008 the Stangl family acquired the property, which was in danger of being demolished, and has been revitalizing it since then.

Hötzing Castle today

The castle is a block-like two-storey full hipped roof building . It has five or six window axes, a profiled arched portal, marked 1762, and numerous dormers in the roof area . Part of the palace used to be a baroque garden, which is now being restored.

The castle chapel for the Sorrowful Mother of God is on the northeast corner . It has a turret crowned with a shingled onion dome from the second half of the 18th century.

The hook-shaped farmyard from the 18th century with Bohemian vaults and stone pillars is part of it. This one (cowshed and horse stable), however, has a base stone with the year 1620. This single-storey and eaves gable roof construction has segment arch openings and dates from the second half of the 19th century.
