history

The estate first appeared in a document in 1391, at that time a Michael der Götlingär (Götlinger) named himself after Gutmaning; The estate remained in the possession of this knight dynasty until the early 16th century. Ulrich der Püdensdorfer calls himself after Gutmaning only at the beginning of the 15th century . In 1503, however, a Balthasar Götlinger is entered in the land table . On the marriage route, the Hofmark came into the hands of the Nussdorfers . In 1540 Michael von Gleißenthal appeared here, Zandt , who had married Magdalena von Nussdorf and was thus the successor.

As a result of the Reformation , the Schrenck von Notzing became the owners in 1622 . The previous owners, the Lords of Gleißenthal , may have left the country because of their religion. In the course of the Thirty Years War they returned in 1633 in the wake of the Swedes. In 1636 Hans Christoph von Berliching is registered as the owner of the Hofmark. In 1640 the property passed to Hans Ludwig Wöhrner von Gossersdorf on Kaufweg , who sold it back to Johann Jakob Schrenck von Notzing in 1645 . In 1650 Georg Christoph von Gleißenthal became part of his previous possession, but in 1656 Gutmaning returned to the Schrenck von Notzing family. Franz Xaver Schrenck von Notzing was born on July 25, 1714 at Gutmaning Castle († 1772 in Hogezand in the Netherlands)

Gutmaning's pertinances included the village of Gutmaning and Ried am Sand (now part of the town of Cham). In 1820 the Ministry of the Interior approved the establishment of a second class patrimonial court . In the course of the general judicial reform, the Schrenck von Notzing waived their legal rights in 1848. This family remained in possession of the castle until 1873, when new owners came.

Gutmaning Castle then and now

After the engraving by Michael Wening in 1721, Gutmaning was a two-story building with a stepped gable and a high tails roof . A corner tower covered with a pointed roof is located on the southeast corner. Behind it you can see an annex and a strong support pillar on the front. The complex is enclosed by a low wall.

Today the castle is a three-storey, eaves-standing, hipped gable roof building with a corner tower. This has a crenellated bay window and an arbor . The core of the building is Gothic , but has been renewed several times. a. in 1887, while the facility was historicized . The surrounding wall is still there.

The palace chapel of the Blessed Virgin Mary next to the palace is a hall building with a retracted apse , a tailcoat roof and a turret with a pointed roof . The chapel dates from 1674. The builder was Johann Jakob Schrenck , who was also the caretaker of the town and county of Cham. After a renovation in 1977, the entire facility is in very good condition.

The castle is privately owned and cannot be visited.
