The 212 km long (the maximum length in the river system is 291 km) long Bachaptscha ( Russian Бахапча́ ) is a right tributary of the Kolyma in Siberia ( Russia , Asia ).

River course

The Bachaptscha has its origin in 29.4 km² at an altitude of 753  m in Kolyma located Solnetschnoje Lake . From there it flows mainly in a northerly direction through the mountains. There are rapids in the lower reaches . The Bachaptscha finally flows into the Kolyma 5 km below Sinegorje . The Bachaptscha freezes from October to May. Important tributaries are the Maltan (Малтан) and Nerega (Нерега), both from the right.

Hydrology

The catchment area of the Bachaptscha covers 13,800 km². The mean discharge at the gauge 5.4 km above the mouth is 123.8 m³ / s. The river is frozen between December and April. In June the river carries the largest amount of water with an average of 575 m³ / s.
