Bachtobel (jurisdiction)
Bachtobel was a Thurgau jurisdiction , also called Oberboltshausen , on the southern slope of the Ottenberg west of the Weinfelden rule .
Bachtobel only included Bachtobel Castle and a few courtyards. The economic basis was viticulture. Nothing is known from the beginnings of Bachtobel Castle. Around 1500 the taverns of Castel were court lords of Bachtobel, in 1623 Junker Heinrich Göldlin von Tiefenau, a son of the eponymous mayor of Rapperswil (SG) . From the Göldlin family, Bachtobel came to the Ebinger von Steisslingen in 1659 . These sold Bachtobel in 1784 to district judge Johann Ulrich Kesselring (1742–1812), farmer in Boltshausen . He and his son of the same name (1765-1822) played a major role in the dissolution of the court lordship in 1798. Today Bachtobel is a winery .
