Oven trolley 90

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The oven trolley 90 (also known as catering trolley 1) was introduced into the German army in 1890 . It was a wagon that was used by the field bakeries to make baked goods such as bread .

Its construction was based on an older model that had been used in Prussia since 1875 . The car had a pretensioned limber and was pulled by two horses . The structure was made of sheet iron .

The five ovens of a field bakery company had a production capacity of almost 10,000 breads a day, which corresponded to almost 20,000 daily rations . For this purpose, 160 to 190 kg of fuel ( coal , wood or peat ) and around 9,000 liters of water were used for each furnace .

The ovens were supplemented by kneading machines for the dough as well as tents for storing the bread and the guards. The kneading machines could process around 1,800 kg of dough per hour.
