Backstrom is an American crime series developed by Hart Hanson for Fox. The series is based on the Evert Bäckström book series by Leif GW Persson . The series is set in Portland, Oregon and was filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia .
The focus of the series is the cynical and arrogant Detective Lieutenant Everett Backstrom, who despite his unconventional and often questionable methods as a detective in Portland ensures law and order. After being demoted to traffic police for five years, he is now getting a chance to start over in the newly founded Special Crimes Unit.
On May 8, 2015, Fox canceled Backstrom after a season.

- Detective Lieutenant Everett Backstrom, is the head of a Special Crimes Unit. He was demoted to traffic policeman before he started after making an insensitive racist appearance during the arrest of a murderer of six Indians.
- Detective Sergeant Nicole Gravely is Backstrom's next-level subordinate. She is a young idealistic detective who works with Backstrom even if she thinks he's lazy and cynical. The role was played by Mamie Gummer on the CBS pilot episode .
- Officer Frank Moto is a member of the Special Crimes Unit and a former MMA fighter.
